- There needs to be mini lesson on the dangers of twitter for the students.
- Letters need to be sent home
to parents informing them of the different ways Twitter will be used in the classroom.

5. Distractions
- Using a social media tool, like Twitter, runs the risk of being a distraction for young adults.
Like in any other situation, teachers must monitor the learning process to make sure students
are not abusing the privilege and staying on task.
- This will obviously not be tolerated. The activity will be monitored because students and teachers will
be "following" each other. This means no activity will go unrecognized. - Teachers need to intervene immediately when suspecting even minor inappropriate behaviors.
- "By intervening at minor behaviors, we can stop more severe negative behaviors," said Macdonald.
"We must insist on civil and respectful behavior."
- Too much digital interaction might put students at a disadvantage for real-life social interaction.
However, a tool such as Twitter does create a safe environment for more reluctant speakers (Lederer, 2013).
"Ultimately, while the debate continues over what role social media should play in the classroom, no one can argue the influence that social networking has on today's students. This tech-savvy generation conducts much of their life through social media channels. Not surprisingly, they're already using YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter as tools for learning and collaboration. They expect that their campuses will follow suit. With this in mind, it seems prudent for today's institutions to get on the social media train and find ways
to successfully integrate these tools into the classroom"
